If that's the case, why did Missy gain SO much respect as a crossover artist?
Why is Azealia succeeding the most out of the up-and-coming girls despite having straight-up HOUSE beats?
No one is MAD at Nicki for trying new things, they're mad at her because the things she's trying to do are not good and BLATANTLY dumbed down from the material she is capable of creating.
Y'all keep trying to excuse it by pretending she's doing some revolutionary, new ****, but that has WORKED for female rappers in the past. That is NOT the problem. The quality of the material, and her attitude when confronted about it is the problem.
And as a side note, Flo-Rida STARTED as a pop-rap artist, he didn't start rap and suddenly jump. He was NEVER a factor in urban hip-hop/radio.
