I was really hoping they'd make it an Earth-0 (main reality) character and not take the easy way out and make a character gay in an ~*~alternate reality~*~.
But I guess anything is better than nothing.

I know.. *le sigh*
You know there will be some kind of crisis event where the Earth-2 characters will get sent to the DCnU.
Regardless, I am super pumped. Alan Scott is one of my favorite characters ever.
(I'm gonna miss his kids that they retconned though

It's not Earth 2, it's New 52.
They rebooted all existing comic lines and reset the stories. All series went back to Issue 1. All characters have new backstories and new lives.
When The Green Lantern returns in the new series, he is gay. This is the Green Lantern now in the currently-produced DC comics. It's not alternate-universe, it's new continuity.

It's Earth-2. Yes, the DC Universe had a reboot, but we still have the multi-verse system.
On the main universe, Hal, Guy, John, Kyle, and Sinestro are the Green Lanterns for Earth. It's complicated.
So yup - it
is an alternate u.
