Sorry to hear that, condolances to you and everyone involved.
There was an outkreak of Meningitis a few years ago here, I can't remember if it was A, B or C but we were all vaccinated in schools, colleges etc and it was publically available for people.
Charmed_Kai: Meningitis is curable especially if caught early but it can proress rapidly and is contagious.

Hm must've been all of Europe cause I remember that too.. was kind of frightening.
So u mean if one of us is affected,we must get ourselves vaccinated and stay away from everyone for the time being to avoid exposure?Thank god it's curable.
I do remember it being not only in the UK - but I can't remember how many countries in Europe had the reports.
CK - Nope, if anyone ever thinks they might have Meningitis (or Scepteceamia) they must get themselves to a doctor/hospital right away. Vaccinations are to help prevent it - not cure it afterwards, although it may be part of the treatment. But yes, a person with Meningitis will have to be in quarantine until cleared.
Something important to know:
Typical signs and symptoms of meningitis include fever, headache, stiff neck, photophobia, or vomiting.
More about Meningitis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meningitis
Also, the tell tale chickon pox looking rash - if you press a glass/tumbler over it unlike a regular rash it wont disappear, It will stay bright red even under the glass.
The only thing is not everybody gets all of the symptoms.
"Meningitis is caused by bacteria, viral infections elsewhere in the body that has spread into the blood and into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Other causes of meningitis such as fungal, protozoal, or certain non-infectious etiologies are much rarer."
Are u a medical student?coz u sounded like one tho.i only understand the first part of the explaination.the protozoal and the etiologies is from the unknown planet to me.
All I gotta say is menigitis is scary stuff and one of my fears is that I and end up getting some type of disease like that or any type of disease for that matter it's just scary to think about it. And everything what ADORA & ST. Jimmy said about meningitis were correct.
