Barney is the funniest character but I prefer Lily because I feel her character is the heart of the group, she's still the 2nd funniest and is more realistic than Barney who can be a little over the top sometimes (and a tad rapey too) not to mention she's played by the legendary Alyson Hannigan.
I'd rank the characters: Lily>Barney>Robin>Marshall>Ted
Robin and Lily are both flawless though. I love Lily's certain quirks (Aldrin Justice/ the Moist thing/her turnons), and I love Robin's too (Robin Sparkles/her anger issues/guns/Patrice). I'd probably say:
Ted should be Teddy Westside and Marshall should be Big Fudge tbh.
And I'll pick Lily cause she seems to be the most actual relatable character. I see a lot of her characters bumps in life that I see in a lot of myself and friends.
I love the chemistry between the cast more than any individual character.
I loved Ted a lot during the first 3 seasons, though. I felt really connected with him and his journey. After that, it's getting a bit boring and repetitive, so I've lost quite some interest in him.
Currently, I don't love any character any more Although I still enjoy the show a lot.
