Do you guys hate pretentious art? Last month my school opened a gallery, and it's filled with so much uncreative **** labeled as art by pretentious hipsters. They had 3 suitcases lined up to a white wall, and it was explained as a representation of America and the immigrants. NOT REALLY. It's 3 ****ing suitcases from JcPenny lined up to a white wall.



Why the **** is this even in a museum? It's a violin with corn next to it.

And it's funny the only counter argument is "it's too deep for you to understand."

Right! I had a field-trip to this new art museum and one of the sculptures
was a big blue parallelogram. Like, those blue ones that you used to
play with in Elementary School.

I don't know about those pieces, but I would go watch Art21 videos, it's a PBS series that does a really good job at demystifying contemporary art, all online.

Because in the age of the camera one has to reevaluate what "art" is for the 21st century and begin to redefine it.
Why try to paint photo-realism when people have cameras?

The dramatic changes in what art was began around the time of Picasso
and progressed with people like Andy Warhol and has continued till today.

I'm sure people didn't consider this art back then.
