Basically, Simon Cowell wanted him off the label before the album was even announced, which was why it was pushed back a year. He then gave Shayne that terrible first single and after that underperformed Shayne was dropped shortly after.
Shayne then joined Rock Of Ages and has been doing that for over a year now. He was nominated as
London Newcomer of the Year for his role as Stacee Jaxx by whatsonstage.com, and
Best Featured Actor In A Musical for the BroadwayWorld UK Awards.
His contract ends in September and he confirmed that he'll be hitting the studio immediately after.

I understand them scrapping the cutesier pictures for the sake of the theme, but they then cut the desert shots as well, which was disappointing/stupid. I'd have loved it if they shot him like this instead:
