Official American Idol (Season 9) thread

FOX announced its 2009-2010 mid-season schedule today.

January starts off on a high note when the ninth season of "American Idol" -- television's No. 1 series -- begins with a two-night premiere Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m.

Hoping that AI can maybe become relevant again (yes, it's still good promo for current artists, but it doesn't really make contestants successful anymore).
I hope that Simon just turns AI into an American version of X Factor.

Just because you didn't agree with the outcome doesn't mean the show was a failure.

All the artists from last season just released and haven't gotten good promo at all. Adam got a performance on AMAs, but if you really want to call it a performance is debatable. I think if they were given good performances and promos, then they would do well.

I believe I was criticizing the voters of the show, not the actual show. There's a big difference there. But, I know how you are so I won't bother explaining.
