US promotion, basically.
I don't think this is going to change who she is as an artist. She is a, dare I say, iconic performer around the globe, who has little US success.

Musically, nothing will change. She's 100% involved in her music. The only thing that will change is promotion. Shak has revealed several times, she didn't like the way Epic treated her after she underperformed with She Wolf. She's been with them for over 15 years and she underperformed with 1 album and they stopped funding her completely. She decided she finally had enough, so she's leaving them! Good riddance, they treated her poorly.

Thank you both for the explanations. I momentarily had fears that this would lead to more "Give It up To Me" types of songs and hi-jacking of her music career (in the same way that Amanda Ghost treated Shakira), but if it is just promotion, that is good.
While Rihanna has great promotion, I'm not sure sure about the other artists mentioned.
