Hi guys! Welcome to my first ever "Best of" thread. I've been a member here for a few years, but I've never taken the time to do this until now! For anyone who doesn't know me, my name is Michael and I love pop music! For Best of 2012, I have five different sections that I would like to complete. Below is a description of each section.
The main countdown for my Best of 2012 will be the Top 30 Songs. These are the songs that I listened to and fell in love with throughout the year. There are five songs that could be considered 2011, but they had a big impact on the charts and on me personally throughout 2012, so I felt compelled to include them. As for my rules, I tried to limit to one song per artist, but there are four artists whose work was so astonishing that they received two songs in the Top 30. Additionally, I will present 30 songs that almost made the list, but were ineligible due to the limit I placed on each artist. The Top 30 Songs countdown will last from December 14th to December 23rd.
The next section is titled "The Battle Rounds: Better Song That..." and it's a section that I thought would bring something unique to my thread. Throughout the course of the Top 30 Songs countdown, I will present five different "battle rounds" of songs from 2012 that were similar in some way. Once I've presented my thoughts on the "battle", I'll ask you guys to vote on which song you think is better. The Battle Rounds will commence on December 14th and end on December 22nd.
The next section I will present is called "Five Bad Pop Songs in 2012". The title is self-explanatory
On the final day of my Top 30 Songs countdown (December 23rd), I'll present the songs that I feel were the worst of the worst in pop music in 2012.
The fourth section is my dedication to five pop albums in 2012 that I thought were really great. I didn't want to label it "Best Albums of 2012" because I simply feel I haven't listened to enough albums from this year in order to make such claims. Instead, I'll just present five pop albums from 2012, in no particular order, that stood out to me. This presentation will begin on December 26th and end on December 30th.
Similar to the albums countdown is my TV show countdown. The five shows in this countdown really stood out to me in 2012 as the most entertaining, most thrilling, most thoughtful, and (in one instance) trashiest shows. The presentation will also begin on December 26th and end on December 30th.
