2009. The year that wraps up the decade that kicked off a new millenium in a big way. We got to see the rise, and fall, and rise again of Britney Spears. Album of the Year
-The Fame Monster: Obviously you got that from coming in #1 on the list, Lady GaGa's The Fame Monster includes all the hits from the original album, plus the new singles "Bad Romance" & "Telephone", featuring Beyonce. The CD is a hit from start to finish; not a surprise, after hearing the original album. "Alejandro" is one of the greatest songs thus far in her career, "Speechless" was a great ballad; a great change for her image, and "Monster" is a certified hit in 2010. Lady GaGa has become "The Fame" icon; everybody wants to be like her, and this album proves it.
Artist of the Year
-Lady GaGa: Newcomer Lady GaGa quickly evolved from her late-blooming 2008 hit "Just Dance" with Colby O'Donis, which continued with major success in early winter 2009. Right on its heels was the second single and arguably the top single of 2009, "Poker Face", which screamed massive hit from the first listen. Her popularity and fanbase quickly blossomed, and she spent many weeks topping iTunes, AT40, Billboard Hot 100, and many other charts that artists would die to be on. This spring was her third single, on the heels of "Poker Face", which was "LoveGame", a quickly addicting song which made the line "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick," the most infamous lyric of the year. "Paparazzi" smashed as single number four and lead to the astonishing VMA performance. Not long after, her first single off The Fame Monster, "Bad Romance", absorbed radio attention and blasted the song to #2 on the Hot 100 chart & #1 on iTunes. Her newest smash, "Telephone", featuring Beyonce, is still rising to fame, and the video wasn't even released! From her music, to her fashion; from her stage performances, to her artsy music videos, newcomer Lady GaGa tops all of your faves as 2009 Artist of the Year.
Best New Artist
-Keri Hilson: A prodigy of Timbaland, Keri was love at first sight on his track "The Way I Are" in 2008. Keri arrived with her debut album, In a Perfect World. Keri smashed radio with "Return the Favor," "Turnin' Me On," and one of the hottest tracks of the year, "Knock You Down", featuring Kanye West & Ne-Yo. Keri has made it known that she is here to stay, and I can't wait to see her style evolve in the next few years.
Group of the Year
-Black Eyed Peas: Their last album, Monkey Business, gave us the addicting "Pump It", "My Humps," "Don't Phunk With My Heart", and "Don't Lie". They took a short hiatus as Fergie experimented with her solo career, which gave us "Fergalicious" and "Big Girl's Dont Cry". This year, BEP made a comeback larger than life. "Boom Boom Pow" quickly smashed and spent a lovely run at #1 on Billboard Hot 100, followed consecutively by "I Gotta Feeling", which tied Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" at 15 weeks. Both are the longest topping songs of the decade. Those two singles combined give BEP the most weeks at #1 of the year, and they obviously ruled this year's charts. The third and smaller single, "Meet Me Halfway" smashed as well, making it into BBH100's Top 10 and iTunes Top 10. Still evolving, the newer fourth single, "Imma Be" is bound to shake up the start of 2010.
Most Successful Male Artist
-Lil' Wayne: Just from his own tracks, such as "Lollipop", this rapper quickly became one of this year's most popular musicians. He is featured on nearly half of the hottest songs this year. (Such as "Down", "Give It Up to Me", etc.) Eminem better watch out, because Lil' Wayne is taking over.
Most Successful Female Artist
-Britney Spears: Ten years in the game, and Britney is still bringing the fire. The second single from Circus, "Circus", smashed earlier this year, followed by the naughty & infamous "If U Seek Amy". The summer smash was "Radar", which survived through two eras! Her latest single, "3" (The Singles Collection) gave her her first #1 on Hot 100 since "Womanizer" last fall. Her 2009 Circus Tour sold out concerts across the globe and recieved high ratings and reviews. It was the highest grossing tour of the year! Teen Choice Awards awarded Britney with the "Ultimate Choice Award" this year for all of her work in the past decade. This year, she showed everyone that she's the ringleader in charge of the whole circus.
Breakthrough Artist
-David Guetta: European DJ and producer David Guetta scored many European hits, such as "Love Don't Let Me Go" and "F Me I'm Famous", and he made his US crossover last year with "Love Is Gone" featuring Chris Willis. After a year's hiatus, Guetta returned with his new studio album, One Love, featuring Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo, Akon, Chris Willis, will.i.am, and more. He gave us this summer's smash, "When Love Takes Over" featuring Kelly Rowland, which took over the top spot on American dance charts and pushed Kelly alongside Beyonce into the limelight for the first time since Destiny's Child was still together. Right on the heels of one of the summer's top hits was the unstoppable "Sexy Bitch" featuring Akon. This dance song fits Akon's vocals perfectly as he says "Damn you'se a sexy bitch." The song is still on radio power rotation and skyrocketing up the charts. Thus far, it topped the dance charts, peaked at #11 on the iTunes Top 200, and peaked at #6 on Billboard Hot 100! I'd say this is pretty impressive for the European DJ who just recently crossed into American territory. Let's watch him keep up the work in 2010; we might even see him give Kelly Rowland her big break.

King of the Decade ::: Justin Timberlake
---Justin Timberlake is hands-down the Pop King for the 2000s, and he is very likely to inherit MJ's throne in the upcoming years. He started out with our Queen on the Mickey Mouse Club in the 90s, and he skyrocketed to worldwide fame with the most popular boy band of the time, *NSYNC, famous for songs such as "Bye Bye Bye". He later strengthened his fame as a solo artist, with his album Justified. This album brought us the tearjerker "Cry Me a River", related to his relationship with our Queen. It also gave us the hit pop/dance song, "Rock Your Body". His next album FutureSex/LoveSounds spawned many hits, including "SexyBack", "My Love", "Summer Love", "LoveStoned", and "Til the End of Time". Since then, he's been working behind the scenes with other artists and has collaborated with Timbaland on "Give It to Me" and "Carry Out" and with T.I. on "Dead and Gone". Now it's time to wait for his next album and see if he can continue his reign into the next decade.
Queen of the Decade ::: Britney Spears
---Britney Spears was the unstoppable Pop Queen this decade, and her work shows it. She launched on the scene with Justin, thanks to the Mickey Mouse Club, and her solo career began in the late 90s with "...Baby One More Time". She launched this decade with "Oops! I Did It Again" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy", which made her the "it" girl of the decade. She continued her reign and showed her fame when she collaborated with Madonna on "Me Against the Music". Their VMA kiss has become the legend of this decade. Her single "Toxic" blew up the radiowaves. She went through a rough struggle with relationships; one with Justin Timberlake early on in her career, and later with... Kevin Federline. After their divorce, her life fell apart. Remember the photos of her shaving her head? Her life spiraled out of control, but she made some of her best music ever. In 2007, she released Blackout. Although her VMA performance showed she was still struggling, her music was improving. "Gimme More", "Piece of Me", and "Break the Ice" were the hottest songs back in the day, and "Radar" shined through in the Circus era. She left behind many hidden gems as she moved on to Circus, which spawned the #1 hit "Womanizer", followed by the irresistible "Circus" and "If U Seek Amy". In 2009, she launched her worldwide Circus Tour, which became the highest selling tour of the year. She closed the decade with her single "3" for The Singles Collection, which celebrated 10 years of Britney music and a great decade filled with her talent. This debuted straight at #1. What a great way to close a decade! She is now working on her first album of the new decade, which will hopefully show her strength and continue her leading success.

^ I know, but I want everything to be together at the end, so it's easier to look back on in say... 3 months.
But maybe I'll do both; post everything on page 1 and make separate posts when the time comes.
Thanks so much btw
