ATRL: What happened to ATRL?

I feel the need to complain, to be honest, and I wanted to know if anyone shared my complaints or wanted to present their own, thus why I began this thread. ATRL has become something that horrifies me. For the past three years, I've lurked around ATRL, becoming familiar with its posts and the way it was. It enticed me, but I never became a member of the site due to reasons that are unimportant. Finally, nearly three months ago, I joined the website as a member and began posting. What I've encountered since disgusts me.
Before I begin to present points which I would love to have responses to, I must say that this thread is by no means an insult to anyone in particular and nor is it a thread to insult ATRL in general. I simply feel that it's time for a change and if this thread receives enough responses and agreement, then some attention to the matter may finally be given.
Now I begin. ATRL is not a forum website anymore, as it should be. It is a website with the best intentions, but which has become infested with members that post threads to irritate others, start stan wars, and insult people. There is also a major issue of bigotry, and double standards occur constantly.
Firstly, everyone knows what I mean by trolls. There are members of this site that post threads to irritate others, and stan wars are more present than they have ever been. Posts within threads are even posted to anger people that stan for certain artists, and some threads have gotten to a point where they aren't even visitable because of the amount of trolling and insults that have occurred in said thread.
Another lesser-acknowledged issue is bigotry, and this ties into the double standards of the site. Many members of this site are well-known, post constantly, and have become almost God-like to ATRL. When they begin a stan war or insult others, it's acceptable because of who they are. When a lesser known member posts comments that are as offensive or even less offensive, they are reported and villainized instantly.
This long shpeel has one point and one point only: ATRL has become a monster. There are stan wars, insults, trolling, bigotry issues, and double standards running rampid on the site, and what's worse is that some of the moderators I have spoken to take on a "well, that's how it is" view. No, that should not be how it is. As a mod, it is one's duty to fix problems on ATRL, not tell those who have issues with the recent problems to "deal with it".
Anyone else feel even remotely the same?

I just hate how you can't say anything that isn't an actual opinion without being reported/attacked.
The world doesn't work that way, you gotta learn to take negative criticism.

ive felt like that for a while now.
if you attack an artist, u get reported
if you say britney is crap her her new song is awful etc...just a etc. you get reported
if people troll you and others, they are not reported,
If i attack someone, i'm reported
it makes no sense.

I sure do  ATRL is not fun like it used to be. People are taking things to seriously this days.

But people, what should be done? I personally feel that further action beyond warning points needs to be taken. The mods have been inundated with reports lately and they seem to give warning points out for each and every issue. I'm not attacking the mods for I know that their intentions are the best, but shouldn't something new be implemented?

Part of the issue is the friendship some moderators have with some posters.
Certain posters can push their agenda further if some moderators handle their report or grievance because they're friends or share a common like for a popular artist on ATRL. This means when judgment calls are to be made, they're more likely to learn towards their views and it leads to double standards.
If people want to get something done on ATRL, they just go to their "favorite" moderator and whine.

Uhm, it's alarming but for me it's still tolerable. It's already part of ATRl (and maybe some other forum sites), and I don't think a thread like this will kill it. I guess, you just have to accept this fact.

Nothing is going to "kill it", and I acknowledge that fact; however, some extra measures are more than needed to improve the quality of ATRL.

Not that I don't agree with you. FYI, I used to instruct members to stop talking ill of others and their favorites. Sometimes it annoys me.
But seriously, sometimes I enjoy it. And I do join sometimes. Don't tell me you didn't enjoy it, even a few times?

Yes, and i feel that it's not the mods fault, it's some member's. Some people here report every ****ing post from people they don't like it or a post that have 0,1% of content they somehow don't like it. In result to the amount of reports, the mods are just sending WP to every report they see.
