Debatable, if she didn't, "Pink" Horse would've been the 2nd single, she doesn't change her single schedule because of the sucess of her at that time current promo single. Her favourite song remains her option.
oh, i forgot that it was just a holiday buzz single
+ she said @ iTunes Festival that Dark Horse was one of her favourite songs so sit down.

If the video was a dark-themed, serious, gothic piece, you'd see the same pressed individuals on here with comments like: "she's trying way too hard" "she's copying ____" "this video is so predictable". Instead, she surprised us all with a very unexpected teaser, with what appears to be a fun-look(very fitting with the image she has built) that happens to be quite original and different from what everyone predicted. So instead, they claim it's "childish" "un-inspired" and "tacky".
Some of you act like 60 year old prunes, because this is in no way childish. It's playful, humorous, and just has a fun-vibe to it, but no when people grow up they stop enjoying things like that. Right? Wrong. It puts a smile on your face, and looks like it's gonna be visually stunning. It's a spectacle. Her video is a performance, an event per se. She creates and brings worlds to life, she creates wacky characters, she creates art. She accomplished her goal, it's her take on the song, and whether you like it or not, the majority of people will love it.

I don't understand why any of you, especially the Katy stans, are upset or surprised.
This is everything that Katy Perry's brand is. Quirky, fun & campy - She has always been & will always be this way - It's her charm & her selling-point, her own identity & it's why she's been so successful as a pop-star. Her formula is perfect. She knows not to take herself too seriously, in the end it is POP music. And that's why she was the reigning Queen of pop-charts everywhere with "Teenage Dream".
This doesn't diminish or demean her artistry in any way. This is HER art, it encompasses her perfectly.
I really dislike this delusional outlook that "Dark" pop videos somehow have more artistic integrity than bright & vibrant ones. It's POP. Popular. Enjoyable & easy to swallow & there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Like some are talking about Lady Gaga in this thread (stupidly).. i will too, look at the Alejandro vs California Gurls scenario.
Let's wait and see the full video, then judge.
