100. Angel Haze - Same Love (Remix)
Angel Haze has a habit of correcting and bettering the songs she remixes (see her
freestyle version of 'Over' by Drake), never more so than here. One of the most powerful and important songs of 2013, although not exactly one I return to, like, ever. Still my list wouldn't be complete without it.
99. Rude Kid feat. Tanya Valensi - Dreaming
Certainly dreamy! Tanya's vocal is gorgeous. However the track is
slightly cheap sounding and gets old kind of fast.
98. Charlie Wilson - Turn Off The Lights
The whistle hook is an earworm. Smooth track, although I wish the vocal was sexier.
97.Yummy Bingham - Cuffin
You're second to none: YOU'RE NUMBER ONE (/ninety-seven).
96. Chvrches - Gun
Has a great bounce to it, although the vocal is a bit cutesy and twee.
95. Pistol Annies - Trading One Heartbreak For Another
The follow-up album to
Hell On Heels doesn't have the same magic or focus, but this moody track comes closest to recreating it.
94. SchoolBoy Q feat. Kendrick Lamar - Collard Greens
Beat reminds me of "Yonkers" but less obnoxious. Cool atmosphere, but could do with not being 5 minutes long.
93. G.R.L. - Vacation
Insanely catchy verses, and a chorus so sledgehammer-like that it can be either horrendously irritating or your body gives into it entirely, depending on the mood.
92. Lori McKenna - Salt
Lori goes IN on this track. A drop-what-you're-doing-and-listen-to-every-lyric kind of song.
Six years of crying / That's all that you gave me / Not one more thing / Not even a baby / We were close one time / But I guess God is smarter than I am. Kind of jaw-dropping! Shame the melody is kind of basic so I don't find myself returning to it very often.
91. Mike Will Made It feat. Juicy J, Miley Cyrus & Wiz Khalifa - 23
Miley makes the song. The way she snarls
if you a lame, that's a shame, you can't hang with us.
