Because apparently its all shallow and takes no talent. That's generally what people say, but honestly there is no legitimate reason to hate rap/hip-hop music.

I think the reason most people are turned off is because of the majority of what rappers rap about - money, bitches, drinking, smoking, lots of swearing for seemingly no reason. There are some truly amazingly lyrical rap songs that actually talk about real life issues of course, but that's not what's making the top 10 on Billboard so people don't notice it.
Someone people are ignorant and think hip-hop rap consists of nothing but Lil' Whitney and some think just because they listen to rock or country their better than somebody
For me I will always love Hip-Hop, Rap, & Gangsta Rap. Contrary to what many here would think because of my username, it's the type of music I grew up with, and that will never change.
Just to be clear, the art of "rapping" itself isn't hated.
It's hip-hop that's unpopular. Aside from the occasional novelty song, I don't think mainstream society has time for "hoes" and "bitchez" and drugs and beef and bullsh*t "struggles", etc.
