I just don't think this era is iconic, because there hasn't been any moment I felt was career-defining. The album has her best music to date but it's not universal enough to be appreciated in its glory. Plus you have idiots people claiming the era is a flop because of one song missing the Top 10 & certain ATRLers being bandwagoning, brain-washed & desperate it didn't "sell to her standards" & didn't produce monster hits.

I think that what was "career" defining about this era was when she announced the title,
Born This Way. I know you'll probably say that's part of TFM, but it was the peak, defining moment of everything she had already done, and it was the start of the massive hype that has defined this entire era.
I think part of what makes this era iconic to me is how brave everything about Gaga has been since the announcement of Born This Way. The meat dress, the gay activism, the title track, Judas, TEOG (esp. the video, cause in my heart I know she knows we didn't like it), Marry The Night (and esp the video). Everything she's done, for better and for worse, has been done by the bravery that she's expressed. And, she's only become that brave because of us, and the bond between Fan and Artist truly that is hard to create is what makes this era so iconic.
The people who 'hate' Gaga now are just as passionate as her 'real fans,' and they are upset because they care about Gaga so much.
So, I really think this is career defining. I think this era is going to be what makes Gaga, "Gaga," in the future. This era has been so much to everyone involved for better and for worse.
I think you guys get the point.
