Once a dominant force, Ashanti’s star – love her or loathe her – has undeniably dimmed over the years.
Hoping to turn the tide, the Muli-Platinum selling singer is gearing up for the release of her 5th studio album – due later this year. Hence, so as to wet the apetite of fans, the 30 year old stopped by US Weekly’s offices this week, answering fans questions about the project.

Records/Achievements
Guinness Book of World Records,
She is most famous for her eponymous debut album Ashanti which featured the hit song "Foolish", and sold 503,000 copies in its first week of release in the USA in April 2002, a record-breaking feat. It was the highest first week sales for a female artist's debut ever. Until Susan Boyle's first album came out, now she's second.
In the same week, she became the first female performer to simultaneously hold the top two places on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with "Foolish", and "What's Luv" (with Fat Joe).
She broke records again by having three Top Ten songs (Foolish, What's Luv, and Always on Time (with Ja Rule)) on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the same week. Only The Beatles have achieved this. Ironically, Ashanti wrote and sang background on the song "Ain't It Funny" sung by Jennifer Lopez which was also in the top 10 charts at the same time as "Foolish", "Always on Time" (with Ja Rule), and "What's Luv" (with Fat Joe) so the singer actually had four top 10 singles in the top ten.
(2009)According to Billboard.com, Ashanti has had the most top 10 songs (16 to date) on the R*B/Hip-hop charts by a female this decade.
In 2002,

I'm expecting a generic first single, but the album will be fantastic. I also hope she manges to sing about something other than 'i hate men' or 'i love men'

I don't think she's on Def Jam, she has her own label now it's called Written Entertainment.

I was always an Ashitty fan with Randy in the old school ATRL days. I hope she comes hard and has a good team backing her now. I think it's ridiculous that her achievements were brushed off when Beyonce came onto the scene.

She'd be lucky to see Human-type success. She has been a non-factor, even in the urban world, for some years now.
