The point is, if she was a bit overweight at the time and there could have been a million outfit choices that would flatter her body time much more than a Black leotard with mirrors Lol
In this Video Paula talks about the infamous performance herself and the outfit and how she looked FAT (@ 8:17):

...This thread isn't about her. And I'm incapable with you trying to compare the two when the answer should be obvious. Britney established herself long ago and has a massive following world wide, and given her struggles it makes her relatable to the general public therefore the masses will always root for her no matter what. Paula was never as big as Britney when Paula was in her prime. You really tried it to with your weak shade.

Although I agree Britney should not be mentioned in this thread, please dont get me started on how Paula was not as big as Britney, because she was, Paula was a phenomenon worldwide with her debut album and her second album, and here I show receipts: http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=157070

This was a career ender? Good Lord, pop has fallen a bit, hasn't it? This is like Katy, Rihanna, Kesha, or Britney on a good day.

I actually like 2007 Britney's performance. She actually looks worse now

I don't know much about the chick (nor do I really care to) but I've read from several reliable sources that once Janet blew up, Paula's star began to quickly fade. And she sure as hell wasn't as big as Madonna. I know she use to choreograph with Janet though and she had a couple of hits on the charts with 'Straight up' being one of her most memeroable.
Any way, you still can't compare her career "ending" from that performance and questioning why Britney is still around. I'll check out that thread tomor. though because it looks informative, I'm off to bed now.

Paula helped Janet blow up and after she started her own career, If you dont want to check the facts then you should not state things you might not know, Once again: I am not questioning why Britney is still around, if you check this thread it was other posters who have mentioned Britney, I was simply stating how huge Paula was at one point. Good Night

I wasn't aware Paula was such a huge star. Im only vaguely aware of Straight up. And the video with a cartoon cat which I dont like. Always thought it was more about her choreography.
she's certainly a dancer way before a singer.

She had 6 straight #1 singles. only Whintey had more wiht 7.
She was HUGE in the late 80s early 90s, But like Cyndi Lauper before her She only had 2 successful eras. it was over after that. I think gaga is following in their foot steps

Britney's was 10x worse, especially because it was kind of...tragic?

Exactly. Or standards for entertainers keep getting lower and lower, but the worst part is that some people mistake the obvious degeneration of pop music for an "evolution". SMH.

Britney's 2007 one was way worse! It was then when people woke up and realised she can't perform as well as she used to - a stigma still attached to her today. And the media mudslinging that came after it was probably 10 times worse (I was yet to be born for another year in 1991 so I obviously don't know about that) - no wonder she was so crazy!

The performance wasn't so bad.
I remember Paula being quite popular when I was little. This was one of the smaller hits. Her last album had no top 20 singles, but I don't think this performance "ended her career".
