Lost is an American adventure television series that originally aired on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) from September 22, 2004 to May 23, 2010, over six seasons which contained a total of 121 episodes. Lost is primarily a character development based drama series containing elements of science fiction and the supernatural that follows the survivors of the crash of a commercial passenger jet flying between Sydney and Los Angeles, on a mysterious tropical island somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. Story is told in a heavily serialized manner. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline on the island, as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character's life.

A critically acclaimed and popular success, Lost has been consistently ranked by critics on their lists of the top ten TV series of all time. The first season garnered an average of 15.69 million viewers per episode on ABC. During its sixth and final season, the show averaged over 11 million U.S. viewers per episode. Lost was the recipient of hundreds of award nominations throughout its run, and won numerous industry awards, including the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005, Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama in 2006 and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama.

Lost was declared the highest rated show for the first ten years of IMDb.com Pro (2002–2012).

In 2013, the Writers Guild of America ranked Lost No. 27 in its list of the 101 Best Written TV Series of All Time.

I liked it, wasn't too impressed by the Heart of the Island , specifically the 'plug'-like cork part .

I mean, the entire science-fiction aspect of the show was not even a fraction as well-crafted as the character development so as long as that was being kept consistent (which it was) throughout the show, it's fine. And especially the last season where it just completely turns around and shows character development based on the type of life the characters would of lived had they not met each other. .

Ugh, I was just talking about what a perfect show this is last night. It really may be the greatest TV drama ever. I watched the whole thing over the course of like two months earlier this year and when it was over my whole life just felt so empty. It's really great from start to end, including the finale, whose backlash I've never understood.

By the way, I've been meaning to ask this for the longest time, but WHERE is this avi from? I kept waiting for this scene to happen on the show but it never did.

No other TV show is gonna make me feel how Lost made me feel. I was attached to each and every character of the show.

It was everything i was looking for in a series. It was an incredible ride. I remember being so hooked on the show, i used to be a member in their official forum where everyone would discuss their theories and stuff.

And i love how the show progressed. It started off as just a show with a place crash that focused on the survival of the survivors on the island and it blossomed into this incredible world.

S6 in general felt quite rushed, shame they didn't start revealing the Island's purpose sooner rather than later.

S5 is probably my favourite, although S4 is good too, especially the Kate, Sawyer and Jack love triangle .

The way they did Jin and Sun completely destroyed me. I was distraught for days. That scene with their hands drifting apart underwater .

I've never watched a show where I was so attached to so many characters. All of them except Claire had their own place in my heart. Ugh. I need to rewatch it.
