I like Adam. He should have won over Kris.

Congrats Kelly & Carrie
They're both doing amazing still years after winning
However, why didn't they include tour grossings? Carrie is a much bigger touring artist then Kelly, even if she only tours in the US and Canada. And don't forget that Kelly has 5 albums and Carrie 3

And who was the FIRST Idol contestant to headline a WORLD TOUR in their debut era?
And who was the FIRST Idol contestant to grace the cover of RollingStone?

regardless of sales, charts, etc. i only care about Kelly, Carrie, Adam & Katharine (in that order). but i would not trip if Carrie were to be in the #1 spot. for what it's worth, none of the kelly stans are denying Carrie's talent. and likewise non of the carrie stans are denying kelly's talent. it's just a matter of likes/tastes. i seriously doubt the charts have anything to do with people stanning for K or C because people still stan for them and they still do well regardless. IF however, for some reason billboard was on crack and put anyone else other than K or C in the top 2 spots, i would raise holy hell.

Important to note that Carrie's lack of success worldwide is not due to any fault of Carrie or that she is not capable, she's just simply not in a genre that's popular worldwide. If she was, I'm sure she'd have found success as well. Carrie has proven that she can have a hit in the Pop world with 'Before He Cheats', but just as impressive is Kelly having done two Country duets that reached #2 and #1 on the Country charts. Her duet with Jason Aldean is not only the best selling country collaboration in digital history, but was arguably one of the biggest Country songs of 2011. Carrie could honestly sell millions more albums than Kelly and I still wouldn't change my mind about this. Country is a much smaller field than Pop. It's a lot harder to sell albums in the Pop field than Country, IMO, because pop is so broad and crowded as hell.. most Pop artists see better sales with their songs than albums.. Country artists have more loyal fanbases and artists tend to stick around a long time. Pop artists come and go constantly, are one hit wonders, etc. After a decade on the pop scene, Kelly is on the verge of a 3rd non consecutive week atop the Hot 100 with 'Stronger'.. and no other Idol has ever reached #1 aside from their Idol spawned single.
I can fully appreciate Carrie's talent and I'll continue to follow her career and buy her album because she is amazing. Just for me, it's Kelly all the way.

Well said. It says something when Kelly has more top tens than all of the top 4 combined. And just as more number ones than the top 4 combined.
Even when Carrie inevitably distances the album sales gap, I don't think she'll ever leap ahead of Kelly on an Billboard charts considering that's the ONLY area she does better than Kelly.

And clearly JHud should be above many because many know JHud before the people above her.

Maybe in the U.S...but Worldwide no matter how you say it Kelly is the most successful idol

Carrie is a much bigger touring artist than Kelly. Idk what kinda crack you're on.
Anyway, I prefer Carrie, but can understand Billboard's positioning on this. After all, Kelly is on her fifth album & Carrie has barely started promo for the fourth.

Kelly deserves #1, and Carrie deserves that close 2nd. Both are queens, but only one has a worldwide presence.

As someone pointed out, Kelly's never taken a break from touring.
Instead of doing one big tour every few years, Kelly does many smaller tours every year since her debut (excluding 2011). You'll never see her as the top of Billboards Tour grossing list because she intentionally does small venues BUT cumulatively I don't think Carrie is ahead of her in the touring department. Especially since Kelly had 3 or four tours under her belt BEFORE Carrie came out and that doesn't include Kelly's World tours.
So now, pass the crack?

Carrie's tours have only grown & will keep growing with every new stop. Who cares if Kelly tours all year long at smaller venues, her prices aren't big at all. If Carrie isn't ahead cumulatively now, she will be after the next one wraps up. That Kelly touring yearly concept is just an excuse, like Carrie's lack of a worldwide fanbase. Country isn't big internationally, Kelly tours yearly. Just excuses. Rather than make excuses for your favorite artists, everyone should just deal with the facts.
The crack is still on your side.
