Yes, a tour that generates money primarily for Madonna. The record label sure as hell gives a **** about the album, and that's why there was a transition period between Lana Del Rey's promo onslaught and the onset of Madonna's. In addition, I doubt she would invest time collaborating with irrelevant "hot artists" of today without the motivation of hopeful hit singles and a successful album. I mean, she's proven that being the most successful female artist of all time isn't enough for her. She wants to be currently relevant.

It's OK for me if she doesn't promote it, but if from now on she's going to make music without passion...

That's not true! She cares about music a lot, she's just rather make money off of them through touring.... because it's a more lucrative business.

I admire her for it (even if she's going about it the wrong way).

I suppose I overlooked that glaring fact (working with Nicki/M.I.A.). Maybe their hopeful "easy way out" of doing extensive physical promotion. Backfired for sure, so they're moving on.

I just realized who you are.
I always mix you up with Gui, and you both change your avatars too damn much.

she's madonna, she knows what she's doing. i mean, the thing is, she knows exactly that every album she puts out sales...'mdna' is going to smash on selling
but i would love her to at least perform 2 times with interview before album release!

I think it'll mildly underperform in the US, but not flop on the Bionic level.
It'll meet the typical Madonna standards on a WW scale, however.

i think madonna is on a 360 deal with live nation ...they share profits from the tour and ..if the album bombs the label gets their money from the tour
anyway madonna has a flop fim that cost around 30-40mill dollars to recoup with this tour

For Madonna standards its heading for a flop there's like little to no hype amongst the GP. I haven't heard a Single soul mention MDNA

On February 3, 2012, the deluxe edition of MDNA was available as pre-order exclusively on iTunes Store in 51 countries worldwide. It reached number one on the iTunes charts in 50 countries and became the largest one day pre-order of any album in iTunes history.

I'm really curious to see how this translate in numbers.

I think Superbowl was enough.
I don't think she completely ignores Album sales. It's just not her main priority. As said before, she has nothing to prove.

The tour and the movie have no connection...did she use her own money to finance the film?

Adele sold +20 million albums and she had a decent/moderate promo. Only 2 videos. No hype.
Lady Gaga sold +5 million and she promoted all over the world. 5 videos included. Hype.
Madonna's not here to waste her time/money/energy to sell 5 million . She understand this better than anybody.

Yes, if she is only releasing albums to have a reason to tour, there is definitely a great risk that she won't put as much effort into creating quality music.
I'm a Madonna fan, but I have never been very very invested in her. If she was my favorite artist, though, I would probably be upset if I found that there indeed was an intentional neglect of the actual music.
I would rather have my favorite artist release an album with the aim of securing the spotlight for her music (topping the singles/albums chart) than simply releasing an album for the sake of cashing in on a lucrative touring gig.
