Due to the release of ARTPOP, I've decided to give BTW another listen, considering I've (thought) I hated that album so much, to see how it fairs with Gaga's new material. But surpisingly, I seem(ed) to like it more than I thought, and what really drew me away from it was Gaga's repulsive image she pulled during that era. Was Gaga's image what ruined the BTW era, and not the music itself? Hell, I remember loathing Judas, but I really don't see what I hated about it so much. I dare to say, nothing we've heard from ARTPOP tops anything from BTW so far. What do you think?
One of the problems with Born This Way was that Gaga over-emphasized her opinion that music is art. It is, but she took it too far as far as making her music "artistic". Also, I think people expected it to have music similar to what was from The Fame and The Fame Monster, and it wasn't that similar. Some songs were similar but different enough to still be good. Overall, the album wasn't bad. I actually really liked it. It just wasn't as good as her previous albums and it is my least favorite of her albums to date. It is very hard to top the perfection that is The Fame Monster, though.
People weren't here for her spamming the world with the BTW message and that made them think she was/is being fake, something I don't really care because I love that era, I enjoyed it to the fullest and I'm glad she didn't pull a TFM 2.0
not even remotely. this is, in my opinion, the truest album gaga has yet released in that it best represents who she is. In retrospect, yes, the middle of the album starts to decline in quality, but she finishes so strongly that it truly redeems it as a body of work. Honestly, who else can come close to tracks like "the edge of glory," "bloody mary," or "government hooker."
It's really a shame people have such a negative perspective on such a solid album.
It's just that it has some terrible songs that people remember over gems like HML & Bloody Mary
but thats the thing, the songs that people consider "terrible" on this album aren't even that bad--certainly not as bad as the worse songs on "The Fame"...gaga, much like xtina, simply needs to learn how to pick and choose the best tracks and not just release a long album for the sake of it, hence why "the fame monster" is a pop masterpiece.
Born This Way is her best album so far. Nothing can top "Heavy Metal Lover" or "Bloody Mary" chorus. Not to mention that she gave us "The Edge of Glory" a.k.a. her own "Man in the Mirror".
