Ranking, Rating & Reviewing All The Albums I Listened To In 2015
8. How Big How Blue How Beautiful by Florence & The Machine-5.5/10
Review: It had some solid singles but in the later part of the album a lot of the songs sounded the same. A somewhat far cry from her first 2 albums.
7. Tetsuo & Youth by Lupe Fiasco-5.5/10
Review: Excellent beats, the intro and outros are a true stress reliever but I expected better lyrics from Lupe Fiasco. Other than 1 or 2 songs this album doesn’t have a whole lot of memorable tracks.
6. Sorry by Meg Myers-7/10
Review: In her debut album she was able to show what a song writer she is. No 2 songs on this album sounded the same. She proved to be very versatile.
5. Every Eye Open by Chvrches-7.5/10
Review: While this wasn’t as good as their debut album in 2013, it was darn close. Nice variety on this album and Lauren Mayberry and the gang showed they are far from a 1 hit wonder.
4. Lofty Goals by Locksmith-8/10
Review: Bar for Bar Locksmith is the best rapper currently and of the last 5 years. In terms of flow he could easily go toe to toe with the great Eminem. Lofty Goals was an enjoyable album, a small step down from his 2014 album, A Thousand Cuts but with Locksmith you always know you’re gonna get some incredible verses and catchy chorus’.
3. Beneath The Skin by Of Monsters & Men-8.5/10
Review: This album can certainly be argued as being better than their debut album from 2012. BTS’s singles were stacked and a bulk of the non singles were excellent as well. This was a very unique album with nice variety.
2. Pound Syndrome by Hopsin-8.5/10
Review: Hopsin’s 2014 album Knock Madness came up a bit short but he more than made up for it in Pound Syndrome. So many excellent songs throughout this album. Hopsin does it all in the album including speaking out against organized religion and was spot on when he parodied rapper Future in a skit.
1. Wilder Mind by Mumford & Sons-9/10
Review: Jam packed with classics. Mumford & Sons move away from their Folk style to more of an alternative style. The haters continue to hate, but they made this transition from Folk to Alternative brilliantly. Smarky reviewers were tough on this album but when you’re great you will have haters. This was the album of the year, at least for me.
