That was their point, it doesn't sell the product particularly well so as a commercial, it's not successful.
The goal of the ad was to associate Beyonce with Pepsi and give it publicity though, so in that regard it works...but unless you're easily persuaded by celebrity endorsement, it doesn't give you any reason to drink Pepsi.
I'd argue that you should analyse advertising just as much as music videos, because unlike the latter it's not just entertainment - there's purpose to it. Plus, it's less subjective because it's not a case of simply liking or disliking, it's supposed to inform and convince.
