RCA CEO Peter Edge recently spoke to Hits Daily Double where he commented on the state of the music industry. According to Edge,"Gold (certification) is the new platinum". Do you agree?
It's a well known fact that album sales (with the exception of last year) are declining year on year. Should the RIAA alter its certifications to reflect dwindling album sales or are they fine the way they are?
No, they should not change rankings. If Adele can still sell millions of albums, it proves that people are still willing to BUY albums. Record companies need to realize they can't use the same damn formula to release an album and they need to realize they have to step up their game/promo.
