Manika Hip Hop Music Review “B.Y.O.Bugatti (clean)” written by: PeachTree3 Manika is an Asian-Spanish American singer and rapper who has been bringing her personal talent to many different projects and art forms for some time. She not only is a musician but also a record producer, song writer composer, author, and even at one point a reality tv show host. Her unique sound has been helping her for a long time and she was discovered by Frank DiLeo, Michael Jackson’s manager, after winning the outstanding performance award at the National Performing Arts Festival in New York City for three years in a row. He came out of retirement to manage one last big act, with the hyper-talented Manika. At just seventeen years old Manika graduated as valedictorian from high school a year early in order to pursue writing and music. That unique mix of dedication, ambition, talent and smarts have paid off big time and she has since toured with One Direction, performed at the Hollywood Style Awards, Wango Tango, Pepsi’s Shop Til You Rock Tour, and more.
“B.Y.O. Bugatti” starts off strong with a brassy and hard but fun beat and you’re immediately hooked. “You ain’t ready for this,” croons Manika, and repeats it. There’s no question about it, once the rapping starts, you know that Manika is coming out swinging and not taking any prisoners.
The song is not short on confidence, either. Manika starts off spitting, “You think you know me but you don’t/you ain’t ever heard a chick like me before/ ’cause I can do it high/I can do it low/ and I can do it every single way you know”. She immediately transitions to a Iggy Izalea reference, crooning “who dat, who dat” in a dead on impression of the Aussie songbird and then she informs the audience she can take it back, “being a million voices without even a feature”.
This track never stops bringing the energy or the references, from Lil’ Jon to Nicki Minaj, all impersonated flawlessly by Manika but with a loving wink and nod. “Would the real ladies please stand up and put a finger on each hand up?” Manika asks, an Eminem reference. This song is entirely new but still manages to pack in nods to some of the biggest artists and tracks of the past ten years.
