Coming from a Muslim, they're considered unsanitary and I believe it's "haram" (forbidden) to keep one in your home because I think the Prophet Muhammed kept them away from his own house or something.

And I believe you could've worded your question differently SODTH. I'm not saying I'm like deeply offended or anything but I don't represent the Islamic community on this site, so instead of being so insensitive and ignorant, you could've perhaps done your research before.
