Britney is Pop. Even a decade after she peaked - whenever there's a girl trying to dance to Pop music, or rock a Pop outfit in a party - everyone says "Go Britney!" as a compliment. I've never seen anyone refer to a sexy Pop girl as "Gaga". There was once this bitch at a party who wore the ugliest shiz on earth, and everyone was speculating "Are you trying to be Gaga?" "Let's call her Gaga!" "Hey Gaga!"

She was the first female artist to emerge during the rise of teen pop, opening the doors for Christina, Mandy, Jessica, etc. She was the reason for the Anti-Britney movement, which produced Avril, Nelly Furtado, P!nk, etc. which were all created as the Anti-Britneys. She said goodbye to teen-pop on ‘Britney,’ Christina and the others followed. She started the dance-pop craze with ‘Toxic.’ 'Blackout' is more acclaimed, more experimental, and more influential than anything her peers have ever done. She introduced electro-pop to the mainstream and the tracks are still used as blueprints for numerous smash hits. 90% of ATRL's biggest faves debuted with similar kind of music or changed their sound afterwards. In 2011, after experimenting with dubstep on 'Blackout,' she decided to take a risk and release the first mainstream dubstep track as the first single from her upcoming album. The single went #1 in 17 countries, and later Rihanna and even ****ing Madonna added dubstep breakdowns to their singles. These are only some of the many things she’s done. No other artist sans Madonna (‘Like A Virgin,’ with Britney [ironically, Madonna also kissed Christina, but no one cared about that kiss, everyone was more focused on the reaction of her ex-boyfriend]) has had an iconic performance this millennium. She's had 5 at least. It’s ridiculous to deny that she has been un****withable and repped pop music for the past 15 years.

Unless she has a huge comeback or return to form, obviously.

I understand what you're saying but since her music is still more remembered than that of any girls from her generation and she's also the one with the most signature songs...
On top of that, her personal life & trajectory left a bigger imprint than all of the other girls's careers combined.
Her meteoric career couldn't last for too long in the state it was, it's part of the concept.
But as you said it perfectly, "time will put Britney's career into perspective..."
All in all, it's just too late for her to not become the most fascinating/strangest female personality of the 21st century.
What's ironical is that it would have never happened if she hadn't f*cked up her career and, instead, behaved like a good puppet like her peers did.

No disrepect to xtina because many ppl take from others but what you said is not a true statement.

I guess so, but all I'm saying is there's no doubting her huge influence on pop music. I just don't find that she "made" pop.
Hell, even saying Michael Jackson made pop is a bit reaching in my opinion considering the huge influence that James Brown had on Michael Jackson's whole career.
My problem with this is that it's a bit of a general statement.
Britney heavily influenced pop music as it is today would be the correct statement to make in my opinion.

Christina wouldn't have even gotten a pop record deal with RCA if it weren't for Britney. Every label wanted to have their own Britney at the time. Her label manufactured her so she could battle Britney and her popularity. She was originally supposed to be a ****ing soul singer.
Britney breaks the mold with 'Britney,' Christina tries to do it with ‘Stripped,’ right after releasing a Christmas album and a Spanish-language record of your debut, which is the mold. Not to mention that she was slammed for attempting to one-up 'Slave' with 'Dirrty.' Britney fires her signature producer on 'In The Zone,' Christina does the same on 'Back To Basics.' Britney releases 'Blackout,' Christina releases 'Bionic,’ promising her fans a futuristic album ahead of its time. We all know how that went. ONE OF THE MANY.
Max Martin is producing Christina’s upcoming single and album, for God's sake.
