State of the Networks:
NBC is finally in a “good” place with their dramas. Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med are all solid players and Chicago Justice is pretty much all but a lock. SVU is aging but still a solid performer. The Blacklist will likely remain on Thursday leading into Blindspot, which has lost some steam and Shades of Blue, which was very consistent even without a new episode lead in. Grimm getting a shorter season allows NBC to be more flexible with their schedule and try something new. The Mysteries of Laura, which looked weak early in the season, could survive as it is a utility program, bringing a solid total viewership, though weak in the demo.
On the reality front, The Voice is still solid, though losing a little steam as it ages. The new mentor shake up could bring some new/old eyes back to the show in the fall. Waiting in the wings is the new Celebrity Apprentice which could be big to see what a post Donald Trump era is like. They also have Little Big Shots, a surprise hit this season. Will NBC put it on their fall schedule to keep the momentum, or will they leave it for Sundays midseason where it is working. Thursdays at 8 could be a possible spot if they don’t bring comedy back to that hour. With NBC getting half of Thursday Night Football this season, anything could happen.
Their weak side is when it comes to comedy. They have Superstore, which held solid in the quiet of winter. Aside from that, The Carmichael Show is likely the strongest possible comedy to also return. Telenovela likely ran its course, and Undateable could squeak out a renewal despite not having the strongest numbers. Crowded could go either way, but it has been an okay performer out of The Carmichael Show.
ABC on the other hand needs to focus on their drama side. With new leadership, this could be an important season for ABC to try and rebuild the momentum they had a few years ago. ABC has TGIT coming back, though much weaker than it had been a year ago. Grey’s Anatomy remains the strongest of the bunch, with Scandal sliding and How To Get Away With Murder not as big of a hit as it was in the first season. The Catch has also failed to break out, so it could go either way, though I wouldn’t be surprised if ABC stays in the Shondaland business hoping for a season 2 resurgence like Scandal. Sundays are noticeably weaker with Once Upon a Time aging and Quantico not a grey live performer. The Family hasn’t lived up to expectations and likely won’t continue beyond this season. ABC will likely slide a new show into the 9:00 slot hoping for a breakout like season 1 of Resurrection (without the complete collapse). Agents of SHIELD will likely slide into the troubled Tuesday at ten slot. By doing this could give them the opportunity to make the show a little darker, possibly more in line with the better received Netflix Marvel dramas. Agent Carter will likely not return, with Marvel’s Most Wanted possibly taking its place.
Where the biggest questions lie are what to do about Castle and Nashville. At the start of the season, both seemed like easy cuts. With their weak freshmen turnout and all of their dramas down as a whole, I wouldn’t be all too surprised if both came back for final seasons. Castle has been on for so long, fans deserve a final season. Though with the latest cast drama, it may be better to end it here. Nashville, while never a strong performer, provides income from music sales and crosses over with ABC’s country events and brand building is a plus. With final seasons, it would allow ABC to send them off, and keep those audiences around to promote new shows which would eventually replace them.
They have a solid comedy line up and I wouldn’t be surprised if they expand that brand further this coming season. By shifting SHIELD to 10, they could open up a second hour of comedy at 9. They have the comedies to do it also. By shifting either The Middle or The Goldbergs to Tuesday at 8, into a new show with Fresh Off the Boat and The Real O’Neals (or something new) in the 9:00 hour. That would open up a new slot on Wednesday at 8:30 out of either The Middle or The Goldbergs. Modern Family and black-ish are working and will likely remain where they are. Both friday comedies are considered on the bubble due to Last Man Standing being from an outside studio and likely getting expensive and Dr. Ken losing some steam later in the season with little critical support. I think Last Man Standing will return with Dr. Ken also probably returning. Though I wouldn’t be all too shocked if one or both were to end. ABC has a multicamera pilot up for consideration and if it is well received, could replace one if needed. Galavant is all but done.
FOX on the other hand has a problem with both their drama and comedies. FOX’s only solid performer is Empire which will likely be paired up with a new drama, hoping to help launch a new show like they did with Rosewood, which itself collapsed a bit without the Empire lead out. Bones is ending, and it could end up anywhere on the schedule. Scream Queens will likely not grow in season 2 and will probably remain in its Tuesday slot. Gotham will probably stay on Mondays leading into a new show or Lucifer. Sleepy Hollow likely won’t return, and if it does, will likely collapse even further without [spoiler] being on the show anymore and most fan reaction being negative. The X-Files will be back, it's just a matter of when it will be back. With the numbers it got, FOX will do what it can to make sure it gets both leads back.
On the comedy side, nothing is really strong. New Girl will likely stay on Tuesdays and they will likely bring back one of either Grandfathered or The Grinder with my money on Grandfathered being the one to come back due to its higher demo and viewership weekly. Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life is done, already preempted for Simpsons repeats. I could see Brooklyn Nine-Nine moving back to Sundays leaving the fall line up of Simpsons, B99, Family Guy, and The Last Man on Earth as it was with Bob’s Burgers joining the night when there’s no football.
With American Idol done (for now) FOX is going to be a lot weaker. American Grit came DOA and they will likely struggle to find another powerhouse show for their spring schedule. Gordon Ramsay’s show will likely serve as filler and or Friday staples.
While also feeling diminishing numbers, CBS remains the overall strongest due to still having hits like NCIS and The Big Bang Theory on the schedule. They also have renewed a lot of shows showing confidence in their lineup. Sundays will have a spot open with The Good Wife ending. Madam Secretary could slide into the 9:00 slot allowing a new show to get the 8:00 our and a stronger football lead in. Elementary will likely remain in the 10:00 slot unless CSI: Cyber returns, though it is probably the end of the line. If CBS is making money off of it internationally as others have reported, it could get another shorter order. With all of the freshman shows still not renewed, though most are likely to return, a lot could happen. Supergirl is solid, though not the breakout most expected it to be. If CBS puts part of its Thursday lineup on Monday again, it could get another late start. Scorpion is still solid and consistent. NCIS: LA is also likely to remain where it is. NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans are solid on Tuesdays and Limitless could come back. Criminal Minds without a doubt will be back and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders has been solid, though not as strong weekly. Code Black didn’t make much of an impact and if their other medical pilot shows promise, they may try to start fresh. Rush Hour also isn’t making much of an impact and I doubt it will return. Fridays are solid with Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods and I doubt they’d change that.
Like I mentioned before, CBS could move The Big Bang Theory and another comedy to Monday to make sure it’s biggest show isn’t off the schedule for long. This season they have fewer Thursday Night Football games, and the delay would be shorter so anything could happen. Life in Pieces held up its entire run, and will likely return. Mom will probably return on the fall schedule and 2 Broke Girls will likely be held for midseason. The Odd Couple seems to be scheduled as a burn off right now with it airing on Thursdays and Mondays starting next week. Survivor and The Amazing Race are also likely to remain where they are. Undercover Boss will likely return as a midseason filler.
That leaves us with the CW. Their entire line up was renewed so some shows will be pushed to midseason or summer because they will obviously be picking up some new shows and hoping to improve on what they currently have. Jane The Virgin will likely remain on Monday. Will they try something new or will they hope for growth from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I would expect it to be back in the fall hoping for a second Golden Globe nomination and win. The Flash will remain on Tuesdays likely leading into a new show. That would push iZombie to a new night or midseason. Arrow too will stay on Wednesdays and Supernatural is working so why change it. Legends of Tomorrow will probably return at 8 but The 100 will likely be a midseason replacement again with a new show possibly here. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will likely remain on Fridays. That would then leave Reign for midseason or even summer possibly. Containment is already billed as a Limited Series so chances are it won’t be back. If its numbers drop from this week, there’s no way at all it could return.

Are they? I used to be addicted to SVU and I watched like half a season of Blacklist.
I have some interest in:
ABC: Death of Eva Sofia Valdez - Gina Torres, though does Suits mean she might have to be replaced? Intriguing plotline too and diverse cast.
Spark - Alternate history aspect, battle for power, Lena Olin.
NBC: Good Place - Kristen Bell her power.
Cruel Intentions - SMG her power.
Time - time traveling powers.
Fox: Making History - Leighton Meester.
CW: Riverdale - Archie.

The list is a list of pilots up for potential series orders for next season. On each date in the OP, that network will decide which ones they pick up and pass on. But they will all be from this list (Unless you get a CW shock of a pick up like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).

Ohhhh of course, yes, sorry I completely forgot it works that way.
Oh I do hope the ones that I like the sound of are picked up. Unsuccessful pilots are still usually leaked online aren't they? As I'm sure I've seen pilots floating around youtube and stuff before for tv shows that weren't picked up.
Is there usually a maximum number of shows they pick up?
