Beyond a certain stage, no. And this is coming from somebody who chose to do specialised maths. My reasoning? There are people who don't like maths. People who don't "get" maths. So while I'm interested in maths, and I'm trying to better myself, I don't really want or need someone else in my math class who doesn't understand a thing taking all of the teacher's attention. It limits my learning. You see the problem there? There should be a certain amount that is essential. But as you said, not everyone needs to know about unions and intersections.

Do Australians say "maths?"
I had never heard it before ATRL. That and things like "6 millions" or "3 millions."

90% of the stuff you learn doesn't even end up being used irl

Do you know how few people get careers in music? Be grateful those math classes will keep you from flipping burgers and answering phones. No major is safe when it comes to finding a job and job security so all gen eds should be continued for as long as possible. You'll be glad you had it to fall back on.
