Sales, too, back up audience appeal for "Waiting" and "Turning." "Waiting" has sold 89,000 downloads and "Turning," 718,000, according to SoundScan. The latter title received extra exposure courtesy of a cover by the cast of Fox's "Glee," featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, last year. The "Glee" version has sold 114,000.

So I think it would be ok to say that Turning Tables has sold like 750k? And I'll Be Waiting 100k? Why not

Adele's 21 has sold 28 million worldwide according to Forbes!
Quote:
But there are some bright signs even in the recorded music part of the business. Take Adele, for instance. Since her 21 album was released in 2011, the album has sold more than 28 million units world-wide and is amongst the best selling of all time. A few years prior, pundits the world over said a sales number like that would never be reached again, and would in fact never see another album with even 5 million sales. So much for that prediction.

/Controversy alert/ In real terms* '21' is arguably the biggest selling album of all time.
* In the sense that no-one buys full albums anymore, the glory days of albums sales are decades ago, illegal downloading that didn't affect the vast majority of the others on the best selling list, and most of the biggest selling albums of all time have had the benefit of being released on multi formats. Plus maybe an even more simple measure - how many more copies it has sold compared to its 2011-2013 rivals (it's not just defeated them ,it's completely mullered them!).

I hear you. I can't even imagine what an even bigger monster this album would have been a decade or so ago. A lot of people rarely buy albums anymore but 21 still brought in amazing numbers, and is still selling. 21 even outsold Metallica, so Lars Ulrich can be quiet now about how no one will buy things anymore.

I'll update this thread in a few days, but here is how Adele's 21 is now charting on iTunes; 2 years and 7 months after release.

Because the 21 era really started in January 2011. The sales of RITD before that were minuscule. The sales of the Royal Albert Hall live-DVD/Blu-ray-CD-box add up to 3 million, but I won't add it to the OP for now.
The question is that how fast will Adele reach 100 million in total record sales? I predict that she'll be there by 2015 (if she - as expected - releases her third album next year).

Agree she should get 100M by next era even it will be half successful as 21.
If include live BD/DVD and full 19 album sales + singles then total records are at 82-83M.

I already corrected you on UKMIX, don't bring this here.
RITD has sold over 2 million in South Korea, 650 000 in Canada, 7.9 million in US, 0.97 million in UK, 0.35 million in Germany, 0.5 million in Australia, 300 000 in France, 100 000 in Brazil and so on...
Same pattern goes for other songs. South Korea is a huge market that has to be remembered when estimating these.
And 19 has sold 5 million since 2011 (look at the year, it was released in 2008)!
