Smells Like Teen Spirit has like a half billion views on YouTube, and Nevermind recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. They are the Beatles of the 90s, no doubt.

I think they are the most influential band of the 90s and definitely the most successful. What a legacy!

Nirvana was huge and has intact legacy that's why they get new fans and tons of views.

I don't know about being the biggest act of the 90s but they're definitely up there as being one of the most impactful. Their albums still sound good and they keep gaining fans to this day.
