After a nine week number one in the US and #1 in countless other countries, an album that has been critically and commercially successful, and only at the age of 17, people on here still believe that she will fade soon. "But Carly also had a 9 week #1" That's where the difference ends. There is nothing similar about Lorde and Carly because Lorde has something that all these one hit wonders don't have..talent. Her second single 'Team' is rising everyday in radio and iTunes and after 2 and a half months her debut album 'Pure Heroine' (which has been dubbed a masterpiece, and "flawless") is still in the top 10 on iTunes (currently at #9) and has been included on countless Best Albums of 2013 lists. Which one hit wonder ever did that?

No telling at this point but her album still selling in the top 10 after months bodes well for future success.

It seems a biT premature to say she's going to slay with "Team," seeing as "Give It 2 U" was pulling similar numbers until its sales just went kaput.

But if I had to guess, I'd say it's more likely that she won't end up being one.

Anyway, sis, I'll have you know that Carly has something Lorde doesn't so far: a second hit.

"Call Me Maybe" also received far more acclaim than "Royals" and Kiss was the most acclaimed pop album of 2012. But nice try, I guess.

I think that "Team" will either smash and go #1 or peak in the top 10, and she'll have a couple of other moderate hits. And her next album will be bigger sales wise (a la Adele), but won't necessarily have a bigger lead single.

I'm sure Team will smash. But after that I don't think there's a lot of single material left on PH. Grammy exposure should help her album keep selling though.

Don't be too quick to brush off the Carly comparisons, because Carly also had a promising second US single with Good Time, Grammy nominations, and her album was met favorably as well (although it didn't sell as well as Pure Heroin.)

Depending on how well Team does, she may just be another Fiona Apple type figure.

Fiona has always struggled with fame, and I think we know why, Lorde seems to be aware what fame means today and can handle it , somehow.

And to Vin, he seems back but like always before, only talking BS.

Lorde makes concept albums, the singles are played in the US and supporting the album sales. That's different from Carly. She doesn't need the second big number one smash but I think her singles are doing furthermore all right. Similar to Kate Bush 30 years ago in the UK.
