Well, my best friend is a distant relative of James Cameron. And one of my friends was in the process of getting signed by YMCMB; he independently released a few songs on YouTube and through his aunt, was able to get a meeting with the label and gain Twitter support from various celebrities. Since then, though, I think things (unfortunately) fell through for him and he has since taken a musical hiatus, removing all of his songs from YouTube and having his website deleted entirely.
