Finished watching, I was kinda disappointed by both. Demi didn't utilize enough stage and materials for the Confident performance - though she sounded great - she should've done something more theatric like Selena. That performance will likely be overlooked because of that.
You Oughta Know was... awkward. It wasn't a duet or a tribute, it just seemed unrehearsed. They just walked in circles around stage and only harmonized - IE really "duetted" - on the last chorus. Disappointed to say the least, especially since I love Demi and that song
she sounded great, that was definitely the best Confident vocal I've heard. You Oughta Know was ok, it didn't pick up until the middle when they actually made eye contact lol. It was a bit weird to be stomping around each other but not interacting like that - there was 0 chemistry there. Tbh it wasn't Demi's fault, Alanis sounded out of breath from the jump and the last thing she would need is people accusing her of scream-singing over Alanis
I don't know how to describe it but her singing is very.. choppy? It doesn't flow and she goes flat often. She can do better than this, I'm rooting for her even though I shade her often.
