Bey is 17yrs into her career and selling just as many albums as girls in their prime or peak. BEYONCE has sold 3.6 million ww, with only one top 2 hit. Normally, its the girls in their peak who outsell those of the previous generation, (Britney, Xtina, Jlo and Shakira aren't selling albums any more) but that is not the case with Bey. BEYONCE sold just as much as Unapologetic, with less promo and UA has been out for over a year longer, and sold more than PRISM, Artpop, PH and Bangerz etc. Why is this?

Prism is coming to overtake Beyonce's sales soon. And she can only dream of outselling Taylor this decade.

People exaggerate her success. Sure she's doing well, but she's not really selling much more than the other pop girls. Considering everyone considers her to be a legend and has heaps of hype, you'd expect her to sell double all the other girls.

Um, I thought Beyonce was at 3.4 million according to Mediatraffic? That would make it around 200k less than Unapologetic. Anyway, it's still higher than Prism, ARTPOP and Bangerz. Kudos to her for being able to recover from 4 and outselling the other girls again.

Whether Prism can pass Beyonce or not remains to be seen though. It's possible (ARTPOP and Bangerz are dead though).

PRISM with 3 mil ww is no where near close to out selling BEYONCE 3.6 mill ww. Yall have been saying she will out sell Bey for over 6mos, still nothing. And Unapologetic shipped 4 million, but has sold 3.6 mill just like BEYONCE, but it took her 2yrs to do it.

She used an innovative release strategy for her album release. If it was purely based on "better quality music" then her single sales would also reflect that. In the business world this is called a first mover advantage... I'm not saying her music isn't of a high quality, I'm just saying that there's not too much evidence to suggest that it is in any way superior to what other artists are releasing at the time. Her release strategy was the key to this album's success.

Edit: I'm just chipping in about BEYONCE, which really was significant considering the state of the industry at the moment.
