Via ETonline: Rihanna is opening up extensively for the first time about the domestic violence incident involving Chris Brown and we’ve got an exclusive clip from her new interview with Oprah.
In the interview in her native Barbados for Oprah’s OWN show Oprah’s Next Chapter, the R&B superstar said the incident in February 2009 before the Grammy Awards quickly became a media circus.

“I lost my best friend… everything I knew switched — switched in a night. And I couldn’t control that,” she told Oprah. “It’s not easy to interpret on camera, not with the world watching.”

“I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird, confusing space to be in,” she reveals. “Because as angry as I was — as angry and hurt and betrayed — I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help,” Rihanna added. “And who’s going to help him? Nobody’s going to say he needs help, everybody’s going to say he’s a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him.”
I do see where she is coming from. He was a sick individual at the time, (still is), and he should have been given treatment for whatever it was he was going through. Though I do think if she didn't love him as much as she did, Rihanna would have a very different viewpoint on this.
Doing that to someone makes them a monster. Whether they get help or not is beside the point.
Some of you are doing to much already, and the thread has barely started. I can see where Rihanna is coming from, though I don't necessarily agree. And most you don't get that she was in love. It's very hard to just forget somebody that was so special to you, regardless of what they did.

and feeling sorry and concerned about him rihanna sis you almost lost your life in a car on the biggest night of your career, not to mention he is still acting a fool in the clubs. etch i dont get it
I have a feeling that she feels responsible for what happened that night, when she shouldn't. I feel if she stated what started it that night, everyone would reassure her it wasn't her fault.
I love Rihanna but love or not he viciously beat you and he's still behaved like a brat since, calling you a ho on weak diss track, are you gonna defend that as well? Respect yourself.
you guys should know by now that Rihanna doesn't care what you think. She's going to care about him whether you want it or not. As much as she wants to hate him, she can't. deal with it.
that's life y'all. but none of you understand ... at all..
