I HATED her voice at first. I hated SLY and RITD.
One night I couldn't sleep, so I watched MTV/VH1/VH1 Classic (I switched the channel everytime I didn't like the music).
Then RITD came, I listened to half of the song and switch. SLY was on the other channel . Half song, switched Again, guess eich song was played? Yhea, RITD. Listened to the full song and liked it.
Switched again, and then again SLY was played
Liked it as well.
Downloaded 21. first listen, every song has 5 stars on my iTunes. Was hyped, and after that stop listened to it.
A week later I felt like I need to listen again, maybe I should delete some of the songs, but I fell in love with all of them so hard
QUEEN OF THE WORLD
I started loving her in December 2010. I bought 21 first week, RItD in December 2010, & I finally purchased 19 last April. She's so amazing & one of my BY FAR favorite artists now.
I loathed Rolling In The Deep for about the whole 2011. I said I was very annoyed and irritated by her voice because it's kinda different. I heard Someone Like You when it got released and I somehow liked it, although I still didn't like Adele at that time. I tried one more song (Set Fire To The Rain) and I instantly liked it so much. It has everything, from the charming vocals, to the edgy production. Still, I didn't like her as an artist and still felt the crap coming from Rolling In The Deep. I downloaded the album because of curiosity, and I like some of the songs, but I still loathed RITD. I preferred the versions of OK Go!, Linkin Park and David Cook.
Then, when I was studying for my major exams in my prelim period, I just saw myself listening repeatedly to Someone Like You and Set Fire To The Rain, and I easily memorized the lyrics and got the melody. It was around December. By the start of 2012, I bought 21 (and I never really thought it'd happen) and my initial favorites (from the non-single tracks) are He Won't Go and Turning Tables. The ones I really despise when I downloaded it (Don't You Remember and Rumor Has It) has both grown on me. I don't know how to say this, but I love Rolling In The Deep now. I can't believe it! I guess it's really better late than never.
I'm planning on buying 19, but I doubt it's as good as 21.

I prefer 19, as it has more variety and is just a more fun and soulful/organic record in general IMO. I'm probably in the minority though.
I don't have it , and don't intend to buy it to be quite honest.I didn't like RITD or SLY, until I heard Set Fire To The Rain. Then the next time I heard one of the singles, I loved them.

Stuff like this happens.
I was in a similar situation with Brandy's Full Moon.
Like many, I first heard of her when she was on that Palin episode of SNL. Didn' t even know who was going to be on or who she was and was busy doing whatever at the time but she's just one of those performers that screams "hey, look up!", you know? I couldn't believe how beautiful her voice was and how great she sounded in a live setting. It's crazy how one performance can make or break an entire career, thinking back on it. Grabbed 19 immediately and realized that she was actually better live than recorded and that ****ing amazed me right along with her poetic way with words and music. Fast forward to years of wearing out 19 and I remember thinking of 21: "please just let it do 100k first and give her a gold album in the long run because I know America will not be here for this". It's just insanity how well this is doing. She is the biggest musical star in the world and I still don't really understand it. So stupidly proud of her, which makes me feel strange because I haven't been emotionally invested in an artist to this degree since I was a kid.
Anyway, congratulations to Adele. A rare case of an honest to God talented musician getting a well deserved taste of true pop super-stardom typically reserved exclusively for acts that are the antithesis of what she brings to the table.
i am really impressed with this woman. she has proven that with good music, you can still sell albums no matter what. 7 million in a year? in recent years, that's unprecedented. i think Outkast & Usher have done it most recently (both Confessions & Speakerboxxx/The Love Below have gone on to become Diamond), but ever since then, i can't think of any others
any who -- congrats, Ms Adele Adkins. you truly deserve the success you've had this past year.

You should look into 19, I personally think they both are good and balance out each other. I would play 19 on a milder, calmer day and on another day I'd be in the mood for 21.
It's funny how RITD grew on you like that, it did the same to me. I personally love it as much as anything else as time elapsed.
I never got over how incredible '19' is tbh, so when '21' came along I was far from ready! So glad that I've witnessed and supported the 21st century equivalent to the Thriller era
i liked Rolling In The Deep and all but once i saw her singing Someone Like You on the BRITS thats when the stanning started, i got her album and got into it and still play it like it came out last week.

When I first heard RITD I didn't like it. I thought it was a huge step down from "Hometown Glory" and "Chasing Pavements". I wasn't understanding why she sounded so angry. I like it now, but I still don't think it's as good as those two singles.
The first time I heard "Someone Like You" was when Karmin covered it as a duet. Instantly fell in love with the song and it made me check out the album. I started hating the song after hearing it on radio 5 times a minute. Even on the damn Spanish music stations
Upon the albums first listen, I didn't think it was anything special. I still don't. There are gems like "Turning Tables", "Don't You Remember" and "Set Fire to The Rain", which I consider the best song to grace pop radio in years. But the rest, including fan favorite "Rumour Has It" never interested me.
