NASHVILLE SKYLINE: So Why Were Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift Similar in One Regard?
If you review the ebb and flow of country music over past decades, you will find the most memorable and lasting artists are those who were unconventional. The artists who were making music like no one else was, music that no one was asking for or demanding at the time. But when people heard it, they loved it and demanded more.
I'm referring to many recent examples: Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Taylor Swift, the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson's many incarnations, Eagles, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris and The Band. But beyond these artists who became genuine superstars, there are several who are remembered for their unique approach to music and for their distinctive sound, such as Townes Van Zandt, the Mavericks, the Tractors, the Kentucky Headhunters and, more recently, the Civil Wars.
This has been bugging me for awhile. But guys, look at Bey's 4, Riri's Rated R, Alicia's Elements of Freedom, Avril's Goddbye Lullabye. They were their fourth albums. And all of them underperformed if not flopped. I'm really thinking if Taylor could pass the 4th album curse that others had.
I may also add that Bionic is Christina's 4th english studio album.

I don't think it will be a problem and I'll explain why. Bey's 4 underperformed because of the weak lead single which led to her having underperforming single after underperforming single also the lack of promo and the rush release of new single after new single also affected its performance poorly
Rih's rated R flopped because none of the songs were radio friendly and Russian Rullette was controversial.
I don't know why Alicia's flopped but Avril's flopped due to bad single choices especially What The Hell because it came off as her still thinking she's a teen when she isn't anymore and than the next single Smile reaffirmed this and the song that could have saved the album Wish you Were Here was released way too late to build up any momentum and besides all this the album should have came out a couple years sooner instead of this long drawn out break.
I hope I gave you confidience again because I have this feeling it will be her best album yet and hopefully the sales are great too

Shania Twain's Up! and Faith Hill's Breathe were also 4th albums. Breathe is Faith's biggest album (8x platinum, Country album Grammy) and Up! is diamond certified.

I agree with CFC , plus remember that those are all Pop singers , and Pop fans are VERY temporary , they support you and make you feel like you're ruling the industry and then they get sick of you and simply never listen to your music again .
The way the Speak Now era ended was great , Ours hit #1 and it was a favourite by everyone in every age .
Country fans are solid , they'll stick with you because you grew up with them , and also Taylor had big Country hits with Speak Now , more than any other era of hers , fans will stick with Taylor , and don't forget the exposure that The Hunger Games gave her , with the new fans from the Hunger Games , Solid Country fan base , and the new hits coming up ( Bob song , Justin song ) Taylor's sales will remain steady
The album will go at least 3 times platinum in the US .

I'm not worried.
With that said Up! only sold a little over 5 million copies but being a double album was certified diamond but it was nowhere near the sales of either Come On Over or The Woman in ME still respectable sales though

Why was it certified diamond ?
I've noticed this happening with a lot of old albums.
