Beyoncé is the queen of pop AND R&B. I don't think that's even debatable now. 500k in 48 hours, with literally zero promotion or lead-up to album release? I just... wow.
We should make a separate thread for people who feel threatened to go complain in. If you have an opinion or critique, share it. But don't come in with pressed statements trying to act superior.
People are really discounting the surprise factor. If this had singles, full promotion, etc..It may not have sold what it is selling now. A lot of whats ifs in this scenerio. As i said earlier, Beyonce has sold amazing for 3 day sales. This Album could have a lot of longevity. And set records of longevity.
I can already predict billboard when doing 2013 sales.
Justin Timberlake
Eminem
Drake
Beyonce (*with only 3 days of sales*)
So Billboard will use an asterisk as they did with Born This Way. People will have to make there own conclusions on what it would have done with a normal tracking period. Point is. She won't be above Britney or Taylor in the record books.
Who cares about that record book?Beyonce's history making moment is already more iconic than that list.
Well said. I'm a numbers person tho. I follow Box Office Numbers, Record Sales, Stats in sports, etc. Some people don't care. So you are right, some would likely guess wrong. Beyonce is on her way to becoming, if not already a Legend. I'm not disputing that. She's got record sales, grammy's, she's acted. etc. This is proof of that with what she is doing this album.
I totally get the numbers thing. It is really interesting trivia. The only problem is when we mix statistics with assumptions of quality and superiority. I'm sure that the biggest first week debuting album by a female is not widely considered the best album by a female or even the best debuting album by a female of the year it was released. I also realize that statistics praising is happening here, but in this instance I think it has more to do with vindication rather than people trying to prove quality.
