Who cares where they get the songs from as long as they ****.
Speaking of tho how do you rank the big Korean music labels?
For me:
1. JYP - Cause they have 2PM, miss A, WG & technically speaking MBLAQ.
2. SM - SNSD, SHINee, BoA, D.O
3. YG - 2NE1 & Gummy
Won't count Taeyang since he's my favorite person in K-Pop and that would be too biased. If your faves aren't on the Big 3 then just put your fav labels

Guarented hits, but I think they're bought demos for the most part. There isn't a full version of "Razor"
IIRC, one or two tracks on BoA were Britney demos, right ?

SM
YG
JYP
And the only reason I care is because a lot of these artist come up with better original material then they do when they just buy their music off some European/American Demo song pool. You have no idea how upset I was when I heard Hot Summer for the 5th time in almost 3 different languages by 5 different people/groups. It's pretty annoying.

He might not be the best rapper or singer, but he's decent and far from being horrible at those tasks.

There are 9 gurls in SNSD, of course they aren't all going to be powerhouses. But there's no excuse to have THAT many weak links in a 6-member group. I would excuse Kai's lack of talent in every area other than dancing if the rest of the group carried their weight. But no, 3/5 of the rest of the members are basic and pointless. If they were even charismatic then that would justify their inclusion, but all 6 of them look barely alive on stage.

D.O hits his first high note perfectly, and it was the only one he had troubles with, the other ones were perfectly on tune, with great reasonance, breath support and musicality. I don't wanna sound arrogant but I'm pretty confident concerning my musical abilities as I've been studying vocal anatomy and technique for years now, and that I actually have perfect pitch (according to my music theory teacher, not making up things), so you could always TRY.
Also, I'm a big voice lover (Mariah, Whitney) so I don't really think I'm used to vocal messes, I'm actually extremly picky when it comes to vocals (and when I heard EXO's debut performance all I could say was that it was horrible, a complete mess, and that it's probably the worst vocal performance I've ever heard coming from a boy group).
|
I don't want to sound like a dick but that doesn't mean anything to me over the internet. There's no way for me to know that what you're saying is even true, and even if it is, it doesn't make me value your opinion any more than I did before you said that.
And the second paragraph makes the rest of our post attempting to drag Daehyun irrelevant. You pull up his worst performance (which still isn't as bad as EXO's messes) to try and discredit B.A.P, but your faves delivered what you called the worst vocal performance you've ever heard coming from a boy group, and you stan for them? If we're going on a case-by-case basis then B.A.P wins hands down, so you don't want to go there. I'd compare that stage (BAP's first stage) to EXO's very first stage, but that was lipsycned so...
But this thread has moved on now, I'm done unless you insist on continuing this mess.

I like that. For me, I'd say :
YG >>> JYP >>> SM
YG has it all, and isn't as Smoke & Mirrors as SM, the latter are just money hungry, and would do anything to milk their slaves/artists and their fans dry. JYP has music and talent, but lack in visuals.

1. SM
2. YG
3. JYP
and 4th would be Loen Ent. cuz IU is outselling everyone all alone
Edit: Oh I thought this ranking was about the profits

If you really want me to be honest with you i'm almost positive most of that album was Britney throwaways Look who's talkin for sure. Look who's talking was co-wrote by Britney and even had a demo of her singing over them. Dress off was a throw away. Did Ya was a sample of a song Buddah's Delight. And the rest they bought/wrote from demo pools.

I'm too lazy to keep going, but concerning Daehyun, he ****ed up EVERY high notes, and when he didn't, it's because he lipsynched.
So no, it's not his worst performance at all, it's his average performance. Sorry.
And there are 3 very good vocalists in EXO (D.O, Suho, Baekhyun), 2 awesome dancers (Kai, Sehun), et a very good rapper (Chanyeol), I don't see any useless member in it.
But yeah, they do not SERVE like they should live-wise, they still have to relax and enjoy the scene a bit more, they seem so stressed and anxious.
I'm done !

LOEN didn't have much besides IU, they share Sunny Hill with NEGA and owns ZIA, that's it.

1) YG. Allows artists to write own songs and produce, allows artists proper treatment, always original, actually seems less like a label and more like a group of close friends making music once people get through their debut period. I also like that at YG, you don't no longer exist once you go to the army. Look at Teddy - he's one of the most integral parts of the label. Their Japanese promotion might not always be on point, but their actual music is always top notch. YG himself never accepts less than the best for his artists, and that's going to make all the difference in the long run. Secondary note - have you ever noticed how distinct every member's personality is? Even though they're not constantly on variety shows, you can detect very cool qualities unique to people like CL (queen like aura), Dara (bubbly personality), G-Dragon (confident prince), Taeyang (sex bomb) and Bom (corn).
2) SM. You can call them slave masters, you can bitch about the many strange things that happen, you can lament your members' disappearances and/or elimination from groups. But damn if they're not extremely consistent. SM is crucial to the existence of k-pop; if it weren't for H.O.T., the genre wouldn't be anywhere close to where it is today. Which brings up another point - almost everything SM does, save the few failures like Black Beat and MILK (CJSH? maybe), is massive. They've got fantastic title tracks for all of their groups, and they've provided the highest number of k-pop classics out of any label between the songs and videos of H.O.T., TVXQ, Super Junior, and SNSD. SHINee is one of the most consistent groups in all of k-pop in every field - great singles, fantastic albums, solid to great vocals across the board live and in studio, on-point choreography and great looking members. f(x) was one of the most unique debuts of their year, in a world ruled by SNSD knockoffs. EXO made a risky move by debuting with a song that's actually serious, but in the long run you know it'll work for them. Lee Soo Man is a raging ****, by all means, but as a music powerhouse SM is fantastic.
3 but certainly not last) JYP. JYP himself is so distinctly human that you can't help but fight for him. People joke about him always wanting part of the spotlight to himself, but he kind of deserves it. After being a star of his own style for years and contributing much to how k-pop grew as a scene and genre, for him to be managing a label and producing so often is incredible. He's the talent behind some of the biggest k-pop songs both locally and internationally of all time; if it weren't for "Tell Me" and "Nobody," we wouldn't even be discussing any groups coming over here. WG might not be the most successful in the US, but they have always been breaking new ground, which is likeable. JY's artists don't always have great grounds for showing their personality in their music (like JoKween for example), and sometimes he has an issue with letting his groups do the same thing repeatedly (2PM has a lot of similar-sounding title tracks between their Korean and Japanese discographies). I'm also still sour about the whole Jay Park/Jaebum thing; I realize it wasn't JY himself that made the final decision and it might have been for the best that he left considering the controversy, but with how the nation is warming up to him now, I wish the two would have worked together to get through the situation a little better. 2PM would be one of the biggest international groups if it weren't for that whole mess, which to me probably could have been prevented with some intense searching. If a netizen can find it, even if that makes them pathetic, a label can find it and remove it. I also don't know how I feel about WG's several lineup changes. If HyunA is in 4Minute now, couldn't she have just waited to get healthier for WG? And plenty of k-pop stars do college; why did we have to lose one of WG's members for that? Hyelim is corny-cool though.

Did he ever lipsynch an entire song though? 4 times? And no, he didn't mess it up every time. As of right now, his track record is still looking better than EXO's main vocalists. But we'll see in a few weeks.

The Bloodshy & Avant tracks must be Britney leftovers I'm not sure about Sean Garret's production (even though he worked on Blackout), the songs don't give me Britney.
