Cheek To Cheek
- Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga
The highly anticipated collab album of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga is here! The young pop star shows there that she is a singer who is capable of much more than just of autotuned club tracks. However her voice may be a bit annoying when she tries to push big-diva notes, as she does in the opening "Anything Goes". But it's Bennett who raises the bar with his old school charm, charisme and velvet voice. Maybe you'll find yourself thinking that the album would have been better if it had been Bennett's solo work. The deluxe edition might seem a bit too long but if you have only the standard version, you'll miss the amazing "Goody Goody". Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett do their best in uptempo songs in which the chemistry between them works very well. Their voices blend together better than you would thought. The first approximately first half has more or less no weak spots but that doesn't mean you should skip the rest, you can find some great songs there as well! The album is well-made but if you're not familiar with the songs or jazz overall, this album probably won't turn you into a jazz loving geek. What's a pity is that the album is all covers, it might be better if there was at least one or two original songs that might have serve as singles.
