Jessica Lange explained already the pepper storyline in an EW interview.
She said most of the times these circus freaks would wind up in Insane asylums after their acts shut down because they were completely ostracized from society.

It's not really that obvious. We know Pepper ended up in Briarcliff a decade later so, unless we'll have a finale set in the "future", it's not that predictable.
Not the Pepper stanning a few pages back. She's overrated & makes me cringe.
As far as upcoming seasons, I would love for Kathy and Angela to have more prominent roles. It would have been nice to see Jessica not having an HBIC-esque role. Of course she would be a main character, but I would just prefer to see her in a different type of role.

Considering the fresh tea we got on Pepper being from the same universe and Freakshow being pretty much a prequel to Asylum I think it's safe to say all the characters we know from Asylum are figments of Pepper's imagination, so her friends can keep her company in the Asylum long after they're gone
