Except for one important point. When Bruno is saying he'll catch a grenade he is not talking literally, so to take it literally would be ridiculous. Katy Perry saying she respects people who make bad decisions is neither a metaphor, a hyperbole, nor any other literary device. It is just literal words.
I understand that Katy fans are going to defend her. It's natural. And I understand it's just a silly pop song, and it probably won't affect people. But she is not therefore immune from criticism and you don't have to defend the song just because you like her. If you think it's a good decision to spend your rent money on alcohol, then fine.
