Yall keep saying this as if there haven't been NUMEROUS R&B singers that have tried to pop since Chris debuted. There is literally NO other female rappers being spun outside of Tumblr. I can name at LEAST 15 male R&B singers who have tried to pop, had songs, had runs, were signed, etc. since Chris debuted. They just failed and he just outshined them all. Mario, Trey, Lloyd, Jeremih, August, Bobby V, J Holiday, Omarion, Ne-Yo, Miguel, Frank Ocean, etc etc etc.
This "by default" thing is a bit of a reach. There have been male singers all up in and out the scene since Chris' debut.
