And that is with me fully admitting I have never seen anything Star Trek related sans the two new movies and some of the newest series episodes

I can agree that the last Star Trek movie was pretty much crap (it was mostly focused on making cool looking action scenes and not so focused on the actual plot, Michael Bay teas) but the 2009 film is ***flawless. And Star Trek: The Next Generation is the best Star Trek television series (barring the original ofc)
