Hello is obviously a biographical song about Adele's relationship with her former self. She's now happy, on the other side of the line; sometimes she likes to look back & check up on who she was... No ones there anymore. Those memories are empty, just memories; they don't answer back.
I'm a massive Adele Stan but I must say I was pretty disappointed with this one. Her voice sounds the best its ever sounded but the songwriting is a bit clunky, the instrumentation is very mid-90s MOR/ Adult Contemporary. It's not the taste-making firecracker that Rolling in the Deep was. It'll certainly perform well, but if the following singles are similarly disappointing I can see this performing like Born This Way (makes a big splash, fizzles out pretty quickly).
This is real music! Rolling in the Deep is too upbeat and overproduced! Adele's real music era is upon us!
Finally listened to this masterpiece and was slayed
The music video IS AMAZING. I love it more than the song. Very simple, elegant, and beautiful. I hope this is a hit for Adele. Regardless of whether it's a 'success' or a 'flop' I'll be perched for 25.
