And all of her features since then have been well on point and I really love that it seems she has made her image very distinguishable from the bottomless pit of mainstream female artists who blare electronic synths and insist that their music is "deep," and I'm VERY happy for her and how far she's come. That being said I'm still failing to see the appeal of Lady Wood.
Queen of the Clouds was FLAWLESS start to finish and had real, RAW emotion with songs like Talking Body, Moments, Thousand Miles, Habits, This Time Around...so many songs that I could really relate to that truly resonated with me. AND it had incredibly catchy melodies to boot. It was perfect. Lady Wood just feels like a ton of electronic noise with no real substance or emotion that I got from QOTC, and this time it seems as if she's just trying way too hard to be sexual and shocking with the title, cover, general surface etc but in terms of actual substance I feel left empty handed. I love Influence and True Disaster, and the title track is growing on me--because they're actually really catchy and I feel like they went really well with the story it seemed she was trying to convey but then you get songs like Cool Girl and Vibes which are really repetitive and kind of annoying, Don't Talk About it which starts off really good but just gets really bland at the chorus, and then songs like Flashes and Imaginary Friend which after the first listen don't really stick with me at all.
Did I think she would actually top Queen of the Clouds? No. But I honestly expected so much better because her first album spoke to me on such a personal level that it had an incredible replayability. Perhaps I'm comparing it too much to QOTC and maybe I'm not giving it a fair chance, and I plan on listening to it again one of these days; I'm just really hoping that Part 2 slams it outta the park because Lady Wood honestly just left me feeling pretty indifferent.
tl;dr I don't like Lady Wood very much at all and perhaps it was bc I was hoping for another QOTC bc that album is bae but I'm really hoping the next one is much better

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I've been struggling to accept that this is the album she released after QOTC. This is just... bland. The instrumentals and most of the production is great, yeah, but where is the EMOTION? The rawness? This is just.. lifeless and.. I don't know.

There is plenty of emotion on this album. Just because the choruses aren't as in your face as QOTC's were doesn't mean there's no emotion. She can do something different.
Every song is amazing imo. The choruses are still euphoric. PS, True Disaster is her next SMASH hit.

How can you listen to Flashes and say that she has less emotion on this album?

I'm getting plenty of emotion from this record actually.
More than ever before.
Thing is, some of you were looking for theatrical-burst-y emotion a la Thousand Miles.
LW's emotion is a lot more human, in a reticent almost sinister kind of way.
QOTC was love, rage, longing for freedom, letting your guard down. LW is shame, guilt, loneliness, realization.

I'm definitely team QOTC. It feels more emotional, the lyrics are FAR better, the production is better, the melodies are better. That being said, even though this album isn't a slay cover to cover there's a few songs I really love and I never really expected it to be as good as QOTC. Flashes, Vibes, True Disaster, etc are still really good

I keep wondering If Tove was trying to comically portray a careless f-ckboy-type of behavior in "What I Want For The Night". It's almost funny hearing such lyrics coming from her, since she's very much a feminist.

This album is just as emotional as QOTC in my opinion. There seems to be even more pain here actually. Like every song (even if it's got a happy upbeat theme) still has some kind of dark longing and sadness to it

I'm so obsessed with the hand choreography in Fairy Dust during Lady Wood.
( https://youtu.be/abZ0PXadpB0 12:49 ).
Reminds me of the devil horns dance move from Britney's Slave For You.
So stealing it lol.

Maybe if you stopped comparing the albums you could actually start to enjoy Lady Wood?
or is judging a body of work for itself alone too hard of a concept for some of you?

I've never heard anyone saying anything about Robyn's Body Talk
Is it just me, or Lady Wood reminds of Body Talk?
2 volumes, dark dance pop, acclaimed, Swedish
True Disaster is her Dancing On My Own moment
Swedes serving QUALITY as usual

I don't think so. I think she's portraying that women feel, and have the right to feel the same type of way. Cause usually, they are looked down on for doing that, why guys are not. There is a lot of feminism in that.
