It's so conflicting because Pretty Hurts is such an important song on the album as a whole, even the video
but it is basic af compared to everything else same with XO...but I still love it lol

So many assumptions! The performance was great. She was nervous at the Billbiard RTW performance and they was her best one. This ain't nothing new.

She was nervous before award shows in the past but it was never this way. Now it seems like even her voice is shaking sometimes during live performances on tv and it was never this way. She used to be nervous before a show and then sasha or whatever would take over and she would slay the performance with so much confidence and swag. Now it seems like she is worried throughout the whole thing and basically is being comforted by her husband before and after them.

I adore her urban songs on this album, like DIL but her pop songs are not worthy of her voice. Even pretty hurts is basic and sonds like something a school girl should sing. She has regresssed since 4 when it comes to ballads. I wish she would stay R&B and Urban for a while until she figures out where she wants to go with Pop because so far she seems lost in that area. She also seems so nervous this era during her live performances. While her performance at the Brits was not horrible, it still seemed like something that was for a new artist, not Beyonce and the level of live performances we know she can pull off. I think mentally Beyonce is tired, she doesn't want to spend her time working but hang out with her husband and child. She is probably going through an artistic crisis in her carrer right now and it can happen after having a child. Jay Z seems to be supporting her in this phase and seems even worried for her at times at the award shows, he understands her going through this but the public of course is not aware of it and it's not their business to be honest but i dont see much confidence from Beyonce this era. It's clear that something is missing. At least she was able to still pull off a commerciallly successful album during this weird moment in her career. Most artists couldn't do this and would have lost focus a while ago. She is well surrounded by people who love her so much, that's why she'll never lose.

I agree that something is going wrong, but I think it's personal not an artistic crisis. This is her best effort artistically ever. Something personal is going on. It's easy to tell. Jay does seem to be trying to support her and help her through it.

You guys need to watch it again: http://vimeo.com/87138905
Her vocals were virtually perfect. She sounded nervous and flat NOWHERE. The only time there was a "vocal mishap" was during the headvoice/bridge part and she just took too many loud breaths but the notes were not flat. Her runs slaaaaaayed and she looked like she had a lot of fun, especially when she smiled before singing a line and had to regain composure. The lighting slayed, the production slayed, her vocal slayed and XO SLAYS
That is all.

She has performed twice. She always act that way with each era until she gets comfortable with the songs. Jay just looks happy for her.
The Halo performances SUCKED until she started performing them every night on tour. She messed up several times on Single Ladies at the AMAs but SLAYED at the VMAs after being comfortable.
Let's not even get on that almost tragic American Idol 1+1 performance that she redeemed at Glastonbury.
As I stated, this is nothing new.

So many complaints and oh now XO is basic. I don't even think she wanted to do the BRITs, but she just did for the sake of it. Could only imagine the amount of pressure that's on her every single time. Bey should just skip ALL award shows and if you wanna see her, buy a ticket. I won't even be mad.

!!!! Bey is always NERVOUS as hell performing a song for the first time... She said that so many times. It's actually a good thing that she still gets anxious/nervous, shows that she actually still enjoys what she's doing.
But I can cut u for that comment on the AI "1+1" performance tho, it was fantastic!

I should be allowed to give my opinion without the unnecessary hate, I'm not going to blindly love everything she does I have eyeballs and ears and plan on using them. I know Beyonce can deliver better performances than those if you want to pretend she's doing amazing that's up to you

I agree, there needs to be people to get her back on track when she's not giving her all so she realizes that's why I'm all for constructive criticism, but I don't understand why some people are calling her lazy and stuff.....

You have ballads and you sing them like ballads.
You have uptempo songs and you sing them like so.
You have mid tempo alternative records and you sing them like so.
If she was trying to prove anything she would of showed off vocally, but she did the total opposite of that.
In my opinion, if there was anything she did on purpose for this production, it was not preparing a usual Beyonce production. It seemed like it was just a last minute let-me-just-do-it thing. She didn't even change outfits from the plane to the performance.
And Really Beyonce, an irrelevant Flurry background?
Anyhow, im glad many of you like it. All I know I'm not here for it if she serves this the entire era.
The music deserves better.
I've seen her on tour three times. Let's not compare the Brits performance to ANYTHING she does on tour, because she has NEVER performed like this on any of her tours. even live at wembley
there ya have it!

The performances you posted are from her concert, not an awards show watched by millions. She has nothing to prove to her fans because we already know what she's capable of vocal-wise, I was talking about her being the center of attention with the GP. Although her vocals may have been a little shaky, the arrangement was something we haven't really seen in her tour yet so that's what mostly got me excited.

This might be her way of trying to broaden her fandom and reach different demographics, I completely agree with your points.
"Pretty Hurts" is so basic it hurts, her vocals are the only thing special about the song.

Idk why some of you are so offended. None of y'all are gonna be watching that performance in a year. It'll be at the bottom of your Award show performances list. Right below the Listen Grammy performance in 2007 and the 1+1 Idol performance in 2011.
Superbowl Direct TV thing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Grammys >>>>>>> Brits

The Listen performance was cool because she did the "I'm more than what you made of me, followed the voice you gave to me" normally and then did the fierce version after: "I'm more than what-TA, you made of me"
and the 1+1 AI performance is one my favorite 1+1 performances because that's the only time she hits the F5 in it : "I don't know MUCH about fighting

My point exactly.
If there is any artist in pop history that knows how to sell a song it's Beyoncé.
It's becoming apparent that she isn't even trying to sell XO, and I feel like it's an artistic integrity/soul type thing because I know my fave, and if she wanted to push this thing the production would be on point.

I agree, but at least Pretty Hurts has meaning that is novel for her and her vocals make it great. Even the melodies in the song are interesting, like Standing on the Sun.
I don't think that she's tired, and I'm happy she's paying the pop efforts dust, but I'm a 100% or nothing at all type of guy.
