If you think there's potential, find some way to carry on, see how enthusiastic he is
If he seems interested, you don't really have to go all the way text-wise :P You can come back to the conversation when you have real stuff to say? :P
I wish I was in a similar situation with the guy I like :/ Oh well.. I'm way too talkative and he's way to quiet and inactive on fb to keep up + he's too 'straight' or more likely in denial (it seems)...
