In 2013 the majority of the trademarked mons got mega evolutions though. I'm wondering if M-Jynx was planned and then scrapped incase of controversy. I don't think Plusle/Minun was planned for megas. I believe they were probably trademarked to hint at ORAS.

If you're desperate for Sun and Moon on the 18th; you can create an Australian Nintendo ID and change your region to it and because it's PAL, you'll be able to access it. However you'll lose any downloaded games you have. However, you can literally find Nintendo 2DS's out there for like Ł40 or Ł50. Obviously not everyone will do it, but if anyone's really desperate come November; it's a suggestion. I might do it tbh.
